Box Office Top Ten Grosses Over $100M for Ninth Straight Weekend, Longest Streak Since 2019

July 25, 2022

The domestic box office is on a hot streak as it continues to recover from the impacts the peak of the pandemic had on the film industry. According to box office tracking site The Numbers, the combined gross of this past weekend’s top ten films was more than $100 million, the ninth straight weekend with those types of numbers. The last time the box office had a run that long was the fall of 2019, beginning in October with Joker‘s $96 million opening weekend. Movie theaters were filled with such films as Abominable, It: Chapter Two, Downton Abbey, and Hustlers at that time, providing a wide variety of different offerings to audiences of all ages.
